A Journey for a healthy heart – 400 kms to Bal Asha Trust

Greetings from Bal Asha Trust!

Rashi, a one and a half-year-old baby girl, was diagnosed with a life-threatening hole in her heart at the time of her birth. While she was in an adoptive agency 400 kms away, she could not be treated due to her complicated condition.

Since Rashi was special, not many childcare organizations agreed to accept her. We wholeheartedly welcomed her to our family. Bal Asha has cared for children with such conditions in the past, our arms are open to every little one that needs help but us accepting her wasn’t enough. The transfer to Mumbai had to happen during the peak of the second wave of COVID19 which means several ambulances had to be changed.

We stood up to the challenge, irrespective of the circumstances, baby Rashi reached Jaslok Hospital in South Bombay. Although Rashi had spent most of her life in the hospital, she did not give up. She was immediately checked by Dr, Suresh Joshi and admitted. Due to providence with the best facilities, top-notch doctors and Bal Asha’s generous donors like Tata Trust, Rashi successfully went through her open-heart surgery within fourteen days. She is now fit and fine. Looking at this little soul battle it all at such a young age, filled everyone’s hearts with joy. Rashi is now under Bal Asha’s care, where she is receiving all the love, health care and nutrition that she needs. She is truly a fighter.
