Bal Asha Trust has partnered with Where Are India’s Children (WAIC) in order to support their initiative of helping children who have not been declared free-for-adoption by the government. This initiative involves digitising the details of children living in shelters so that they can be assessed and their cases can be processed as fast as possible so that they may be placed in Adoptive families. 

We are glad to share that this project is with support and approval of the Commissionerate of Women and Child Development in Maharashtra.  WAIC  prototype technology solution, called Child Lifecycle Technology Solution, in Maharashtra. This trial will take place specifically in two districts, Aurangabad and Mumbai.  The Mumbai pilot implementation is being led by the Bal Asha Trust team, who have been rehabilitating vulnerable children for more than 35 years.

In India, only 1% of children in Child Shelters are ever even given the opportunity to be evaluated for such care despite 30,000+ waiting adoptive parents. WAIC + Bal Asha Trust’s role is clear: we want to use technology to make these children identifiable to the authorities, drive more evaluations and ensure the best outcome for each  child.

The implementation of our prototype in Maharashtra is an encouraging milestone.  We would like to extend our gratitude to the entire WAIC team for having faith in us, and the cause.
