It is a fine example of dedication and good work that won Jayashree from Bal Asha Trust praise and recognition as the “ideal mother”.
The Public Health Department of Mumbai Municipal Corporation organized a healthy baby contest where attention on general appearance and health of the child was of prime consideration. This competition was held in March 2016 in which a 6 year child from Bal Asha Trust was chosen as the Healthy Baby for the year 2015-2016. A certificate to that effect was awarded to the child and Mrs Jayashree was awarded the “Idol Mother” certificate by health officer of the G ward.
Jayashree is one of the oldest and most dedicated staff members of Bal Asha Trust and has been working at this institution for the last 24 years. Initially she had been working as a nurse in the children’s ward then in a supervisory capacity and now as a superintendent. She is also in charge of the children’s medical problems which include preparing physical examination reports, consulting with doctors regarding various tests surgeries care and problems of the special needs children and follow-ups.
Today she has become a mentor to other nurses and caretakers teaching the importance of quality care for destitute children which is the core value system of our organization. Most of the children are special needs like HIV, Hep B, Global Developmental Delays, Deaf etc.
